While some of the old crew has already appeared in Picard, the ante will be upped in season 3 as we will see Le Var Burton (Georgie La Forge), Michael Down (Worf), Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), and Brent Spiner (Data) join the cast. The announcement was made on April 5, also known as “First Contact Day” amongst fans.
“I remember watching the premiere of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday,” Terry Matalas, “Picard” showrunner, said in a statement. “It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction. So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor.”
This will be the first time all of the cast has been together in one project since the release of Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002.
No word as of yet as to how many episodes they will appear in, or when the new season will premiere. Season 2 is still debuting new episodes on Paramount Plus.
