The new Rings of Power season 2 teaser shows the return to Middle-earth, and the growing presence of Sauron upon the land.

The first Rings of Power season 2 teaser shows us what has happened to Middle-earth since Sauron started his dark journey, and none of it looks good for the residents of the world.

The Rings of Power tells the tale of the second age of Middle-earth, when there were 20 magical rings. It looks as though this season will focus far more on the creation of the rings and how they are impacting the world. As to the 20 rings, they break down as:

“Three rings for the Elven kings under the sky…”

“Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone…”

“Nine for mortal men doomed to die…”

“One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne…”

“One Ring to rule them all…One Ring to find them…One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”

Season one was filmed in New Zealand as were all of the films, but production for season 2 was moved to the U.K.

In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season One’s epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

Rings of Power season 2 will debut on Amazon on Aug. 29.
