Announced earlier this year, Paramount Plus Australia and the Paramount-owned Network 10 had commissioned the first international spin-off of NCIS, NCIS: Sydney. The new series was set to debut in Australia on Nov. 10, and it has now been announced that it will debut on CBS three days later on Nov. 13. Episodes will then be released weekly in both countries.
NCIS: Sydney will air at 10pm Eastern on Mondays, following a rerun of NCIS.
The new series will see U.S. NCIS Agents working with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) as a multi-national task force investigating naval crimes.
The cast was announced earlier this year and will feature Olivia Swann (Legends of Tomorrow) playing NCIS Special Michelle Mackey alongside Todd Lasance (Spartacus: War of the Damned) as Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey. They will be joined by Sean Sagar (The Covenant) as NCIS Special Agent, DeShawn Jackson, Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin) as AFP Liaison Officer, Constable Evie Cooper, Mavournee Hazel (Halifax: Retribution) as AFP Forensic Scientist, Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson, and William McInnes (The Newsreader) as AFP Forensic Pathologist, Dr Roy Penrose.
“NCIS: Sydney is exciting for all of us at Paramount, and we hope one of the most eagerly anticipated commissions of the year,” said Paramount Australia and New Zealand Head of Drama Rick Maier.
Studios are currently looking into multiple brand expansions that take well-established premises and put them into international settings. Earlier in June, it was announced that Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is in development.
