Paramount Plus has announced that Frasier is indeed returning for season 2. It will continue to film in front of a live studio audience on the Paramount lot.
Kelsey Grammer has been shopping a Frasier revival around Hollywood for some time now, but it finally came together, and Paramount Plus has ordered the revival to series.
“Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television,” said Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+. “The new series introduced Frasier to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey’s truly timeless portrayal of Dr. Crane. We’re so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for season two.”
“Frasier is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!” said Kelsey Grammer, star and executive producer of Frasier.
The original Frasier was a spinoff from Cheers and ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004. In addition to Grammer, the series starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, and John Mahoney.
The series was nominated for 37 Emmys in total, including five consecutive wins for Outstanding Comedy Series. Grammer also won four individual awards for his performance.
No timeline for a debut of season 2 has been announced as of yet. There has also been no reveal of how many episodes were ordered, but it is suspected it will be a 10-episode season.
