Dwayne Johnson is fully back in the Fast & Furious franchise and is set to star in a new spinoff movie.

Following a surprise cameo in the credits of Fast X, it seems that we have more definitely not seen the last of Luke Hobbs. Johnson confirmed the news himself via social media.

Before you assume this is going to be Fast 11, it looks as though this will be a film that bridges the two films and will just focus on Hobbs taking on Dante as was hinted in the credits sequence. The door is reportedly open, however, for Johnson to appear in the mainline film series once again.

Chris Morgan, the writer of many entries in the series, has penned the script.  Johnson will produce alongside Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia under their Seven Bucks Production banner. They will be joined by Vin Diesel and Samantha Vincent under the One Race Films banner.

No word on a release date as of yet but one would imagine it will go into production as soon as possible. With the WGA strike entering its second month, however, it may be delayed for a bit.

Johnson last appeared in the Fast & Furious series in the spinoff film Hobbs & Shaw. This film is not a direct sequel to that one, and will be its own storyline bridging some of the final chapters of the original series.
