After several hints from Alex Winter, it appears we finally know what the release plan is for Bill & Ted Face the Music.

Once again a movie has changed its release date, but this time it comes with a new release plan. On Thursday a new trailer was released for Bill & Ted Face the Music, and along with it came an announcement that the film will be hitting theaters and Video on Demand (VOD) at the same time.

What isn’t clear as of yet is if you will be able to purchase the film as well as rent it on Sept. 1, but that has been the model most studios have followed so far. There will be a panel for Bill & Ted Face the Music on Saturday via Comic-Con@Home so expect more info then.

The stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves). The now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe, with the helped by their daughters (played by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine), a new batch of historical figures and a few music legends.
