Barbie took the top spot at the box office this weekend with $155M, coming in well over projections. It led to the biggest box office weekend since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. It took in a further $182M at the foreign box office for a global opening weekend of $337M. Not too shabby for an estimated budget of $155M.
Second place went to Oppenheimer with $80.5M domestically. It took in $93.65M overseas for a global total of $174.15M.
Sound of Freedom landed in third place with $20.14M for a new domestic total of $124.74M.
Fourth place went to Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One with $19.5M for a new domestic total of $118.75M. Combined with its $252.1M from overseas, the film stands at $370.85M globally.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny landed in fifth place with $6.7M for a new domestic total of $159.01M. It has taken in $176M at the foreign box offices for a global total of $335.01M.
This week’s wide releases are The First Slam Dunk, Haunted Mansion, and Talk to Me.
