HBO Max has announced that Sex and the City is returning for a 10-episode limited series that will be called And Just Like That…, a reference to the original series.

The new project will see the return of original stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), as well as Michael Patrick King as an executive producer. The three stars will also receive executive producer credits on the project.

Notably absent will be series creator Darren Star as well as Kim Cattrall (Samantha), the latter of which has been very vocal about her lack of interest of returning to the franchise.

“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of originals at HBO Max.

The only plot details revealed thus far is the series will deal with how Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte navigate friendship in their 50s.

And Just Like That… is expected to begin filming in late spring, but no mention of a proposed release date as of yet. King is currently assembling the writer’s room and searching for a show runner. The series will be exclusive to HBO Max upon release.
