This is part of our “Most Anticipated Movies of 2019” series where we take a look at some of the movies we’re most excited to watch in the new year.
We’ve been asking for a live-action Pokémon movie for the better part of two decades and we’re finally getting one. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu shows a world that is inhabited by Pokémon, including Pikachu, who is voiced by Ryan Reynolds.
The first trailer showed what some of these real life Pokémon will look like and it’s quite surreal. Many of the Pokémon were designed with fur to make them look more realistic, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. In the jam-packed Ryme City, Pokémon abound everywhere, including Detective Pikachu, who will help find his missing partner by partnering up with his son, the only person who can understand him.
