According to a report from Deadline, Kinberg has been tapped to write a new trilogy of Star Wars films. According to the report, these films will serve as episodes 10 through 12 of the Skywalker Saga, but they admit that others contest that claim.
Kinberg has been a writer on films such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Dark Phoenix, Sherlock Holmes, and more. His previous experience with Star Wars served as co-creator and one of the Star Wars: Rebels animated series writers.
What this film means for the other announced Star Wars projects is unclear. A movie has been announced with Daisy Ridley continuing the story of Rey Skywalker, but we don’t know yet if these are intermingled projects.
Despite announcements, Lucasfilm has been having issues with getting new projects off the ground. For the time being, we recommend taking all Star Wars projects with a grain of salt, no matter what the source of the news is.
No word as of yet when Kinberg’s films would go before cameras.
