It’s time to speed up to plaid once again as Spaceballs 2 is finally a reality and will be hitting theaters in 2027.

After years of rumors and fan hopes, a sequel to 1987’s Spaceballs has finally been announced. In a brief video released on Thursday, it was announced that Spaceballs 2 is indeed on the way and will be aiming to hit theaters in 2027.

Original cast members will be making their returns for the long-awaited follow-up. Bill Pullman, Mel Brooks, and the very elusive Rick Moranis are all set to return. They will be joined by Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman, BIll’s son, for the new adventure. The film is being touted as “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.”

Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) will direct for a script by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. Gad is also expected to appear in the film and will be a producer alongside Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Brooks, and Greenbaum. Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez will executive produce.

No exact release date for Spaceballs 2 has been announced as of yet.
