The Snake Eyes trailer has finally arrived giving us a taste of the fan-favorite character’s origin story.
Snake Eyes has been a part of the “A Real American Hero” version of the G.I. Joe toyline since day one. In later years it was added that he and Storm Shadow were both parts of the Arashikage ninja clan. In the original origin story they both trained there since they were children, but ended up taking different paths with their skills due to something Storm Shadow did. (which we won’t spoil here as it is probably part of the film.)
It’s still not clear how Scarlett (Samara Weaving) and the Baroness (Ursula Corbero) fit into the story. Possibly they are there to recruit Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins hits theaters on July 23.
