It appears that Paramount Pictures is ready to head back into the sewers with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
According to Heat Vision, Paramount has hired Andrew Dodge (Bad Words) to pen the script. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller will return to produce the film under their Platinum Dunes production company.
Paramount has released two other films in this series – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) – and then everything went quiet on the sequel front. The first film took in $493M globally while the sequel came in with a far quieter $245M. Both films were not critical successes.
Jim Gianopulos has come in as the chairman of Paramount Pictures and has vowed to refocus the studio’s franchises. The hope is that this will translate into a higher quality third outing for the heroes in a half shell, but we’ll have to wait and see.
No word as of yet as to when we might see the film begin shooting let alone when it will hit theaters.
