The Lord of the Rings is on its way back being a feature film with a new prequel entitled, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim has been fast-tracked by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation and will detail the saga of Helm’s Deep. The story will focus on the fortress from The Two Twoers and the man it was named for, Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan.
The film will be animated and will be directed by veteran anime director Kenji Kamiyama. Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews will be handling the script while Joseph Chou is set to produce.
This is yet another prequel to the overall story of Middle-earth as Amazon is currently working on its live-action television series that will deal with the Second-age of Middle-earth’s history.
There are thousands of years of history for Middle-earth before you even get to the time of the Hobbit, so it looks as though we could be seeing new material for years to come.
No word on a release date yet for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
