As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the world, the film industry continues to find itself in unknown territory.
As studios pulled films from the release schedule, movie theaters began announcing their closures. The studios that held out will now have to examine their schedules, and changes are being made.
Lionsgate has announced that it has pulled Antebellum (April 24), Run (May 8), and Spiral (May 15) from the upcoming schedule. These mark some of the furthest out postponements we have seen film-wise, and certainly indicates it will be some time before theaters are open again.
As of right now, the next wide release film is Trolls: World Tour scheduled for April 10, but we just can’t imagine that film will hold that date. Perhaps sometime in mid-May theaters will reopen, but we really think it will be late May to mid-June.
The three films pulled by Lionsgate do not currently have new release dates. Those will be announced at a later time.
