Netflix’s Vampire teen drama First Kill has been canceled.

Netflix put a stake through the chest of First Kill and its fans this week with a cancelation. The series focused on Juliette Fairmont (Sarah Catherine Hook) as she needed to make her first kill as a legacy vampire, and a hunter named Calliope Burns (Imani Lewis) who was looking to kill her first monster. The problem is that when the two meet, sparks fly and they fall in love. A vampire and a hunter being in love is a recipe for disaster for both families.

If it sounds like Romeo and Juliet that’s because that’s exactly what it was. Just, you know, with monsters thrown in.

The series debuted to healthy viewership with 97.6M viewing hours, but not-so-great reviews and audience scores. As Forbes pointed out, fans have been curious how this series got canceled while Heartstopper, with 54.3 million viewing hours, got renewed for two more seasons.

While some fans are demanding the series be revived, it seems unlikely that will come to be.

The entire first season of First Kill is available on Netflix now.
