Marvel Studios has officially announced the actors that will be taking on the roles of its First Family, the Fantastic Four.
The longest-rumored cast member turned out to be true as Pedro Pascal, 48, has been cast as Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic. Pascal is one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood right now, and it’s believed that he will film the second season of The Last of Us before shooting The Fantastic Four.
Vanessa Kirby, 35, will be playing Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman of the team. Like Pascal, Kirby has seemingly been everywhere over the last few years. She was also among the final names being rumored for Selena Kyle in The Batman, a role that ultimately went to Zoe Kravitz.
Playing her younger brother, Johnny Storm, will be Joseph Quinn, 30. The new Human Torch shot to fame a few years ago for his part as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things 4.
Rounding out the team will be Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing. The 46-year-old actor recently won an Emmy for his role as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich on The Bear.
The team has long been called ‘the First Family’ of Marvel as they were the first team created by the partnership of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The have been an important part of Marvel Comics ever since the release of their first comic in 1961. While the membership has varied here and there over the years, they have predominantly kept to these core four characters.
The plot of the film is currently being kept under wraps, but the script is said to be done. This means we have no idea as of yet if a casting announcement is on the way for the Fantastic Four’s arch-enemy, Doctor Doom. Fingers crossed, we will know more soon.
Matt Shakman is currently tapped as the director, and some rumors have pointed to filming to begin in August of this year. That should be just enough time for Pascal to wrap his work on The Last of Us.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously said the film will not include an origin story for the team, and judging by the ages of the actors it sounds as though the team will have been together for at least a few years.
The Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, and will be part of Phase Six of the MCU.
