Netflix begins production on Cowboy Bebop, and Ein is in the house

Human actors are all well and good, but one thing has been in the back of our head since the live-action Cowboy Bebop was announced: What would they do about Ein. Would they go CGI? Would they use a real corgi? Well, now we have our answer as “Ein” shows up for the cast table read.

While we’re sure some CGI will be involved, at least we know a real dog will be in some scenes.

Also seen in the video are the cast of the series including John Cho (Spike Spiegel), Mustaga Shakir (Jet Black), Danielle Pineda (Faye Velentine), and Alex Hassell (Vicious). Not seen is whoever will be playing Ed, the youngest member of the Bebop‘s crew. We’re assuming we’ll see Ed int he series, but we just have to wait to hear who it will be.

Additionally, Elena Satine has been cast as Julia.

There’s no word as of yet as to when the live-action Cowboy Bebop will debut. With production just beginning, and the number of effects that are sure to be included, one has to assume we’re a year or more out from the debut. If we were to place bets, we would probably go with a Fall 2020 debut at the earliest.

Hopefully, we’ll see more production updates like this one. Or they could just post daily videos of the dog playing Ein and we’d be happy.
