After years of talks, it appears that the proposed Who’s the Boss? sequel series is dead as Freevee scraps its plans.

Freevee has announced that its Who’s the Boss revival is no longer moving forward. The project has been in the works since 2020, and there was an update as recently as 2022 when it landed at Freevee. At the time it was the only service that had streaming rights to the original episodes.
The original series aired on ABC from 1984-1992. Danza played a former professional baseball player who moved in with his daughter to be a nanny for a single mother.
Mike Royce was set to serve as writer and executive producer, while Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz would serve as co-executive producer. Norman Lear – until his passing – was also an executive producer on the project. While not involved with the original series, the series was added to his library under the Embassy Communications label, which is now a part of Sony Pictures TV. Danza and Milano were also to receive producing credits and star in the new series.
No reason was given for the decision, and there has been no word of it trying to find a new home. Sony Pictures Television currently holds the rights to the series and was the company behind the development from 2020 to 2022. They may look to find it a different home, but no comment has been provided as of yet.
