The Television Academy has begun alerting vendors that they will be delaying the 2023 Emmy Awards from its date in September.

As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, the Television Academy has opted to delay its annual Emmy Awards ceremony. This marks the first time the Emmys have been delayed in over 20 years with the last time being in Sept. 2001 following the attacks on Sept. 11.
No new date has been announced as of yet, but according to Variety, Fox is suggesting the telecast won’t take place until Jan. 2024.
The 2023 Emmy Nominations were announced earlier in July, and while the Sept. date was still being held to at that time, it seemed obvious a delay would be needed. The Television Academy said at the time, “Like the rest of the industry, we hope there will be an equitable and timely resolution for all parties in the current guild negotiations. We continue to monitor the situation closely with our partners at Fox and will advise if and when there is an update available.”
Voting will still take place from Aug. 17 to Aug. 28, but no actors or writers will be available to promote their nominations due to the ongoing strikes.
