It has been an open secret for some time now that Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton have tested for the new Lara Croft series, but it looks as though Turner has pulled into the lead. According to Deadline, Turner is in talks to land the role in the new series that has been in development for some time at Prime Video.
The series is being headed up by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and produced by Amazon MGM Studios. “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all,” Waller-Bridge said in May when the series was picked up by the streaming service.
Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins will serve as executive producers via the Wells Street Productions banner, while Dmitri M. Johnson from dj2 Entertainment, Michael Scheel, Legendary Television, and Crystal Dynamics will also receive executive producing credits.
No word as of yet as to when the series will go into production, but it appears to be a high priority for Amazon MGM Studios.
