No Time to Die trailer – James Bond is back for number 25

In what will probably be his last outing, Daniel Craig is back in the first No Time to Die trailer. And there’s a lot to digest here.

First off, it appears that leaving MI6 for the love of Dr. Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) doesn’t appear to have worked out, but Bond stays out of the spy world. However, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) asks his old friend to come back to help him with a mission.

This will bring Bond back into contact with M (Ralph Fiennes), Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), and Q (Ben Whishaw), and, apparently, Dr. Swann. And for some reason… Blofeld (Christoph Waltz). And for fun, we’ll also be meeting our first female Double-00 agent in Lashana Lynch.

One thing you can say for the Craig era of Bond is that the films have been more interconnected than ever before. When you look back at the age of Sean Connery or Roger Moore, each film stood on its own except for minor recurring characters. The stories have built upon one another, and Craig’s Bond has actually been on quite a journey personally.

Will he be up to the task of taking on Rami Malek’s Safin? We’ll find out in 2020.

No Time to Die will hit theaters on April 8, 2020.
