Avatar: Fire and Ash landed in first place with $88M domestic, coming in under the projections that ranged from $90M to $110M. It took in $257M in the foreign markets for a global opening of $345M. Still a robust opening, but the domestic number came in 38% under Avatar: The Way of Water.
Second place went to David with $22M.
The Housemaid opened in third place with $19M.
Fourth place went to The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants $16M.
Zootopia 2 landed in fifth with $14.5M for a new domestic total of $282.8M. The foreign markets stand at $990M for a global total of $1.272B. The announcement of a third film seems inevitable at this point.
The wide releases this week are Anaconda, Song Sung Blue, and Marty Supreme.
