Make way… make way… for a new champion of Thanksgiving weekend as Moana 2 looks set to break some records.

According to early tracking, Moana 2 will take in $125M in the five days from Wednesday to Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend. The previous record for that period was $125M taken in by Frozen 2, but that wasn’t an opening weekend. The record for an opening was Frozen taking in $93.5M.
Currently, presales for the film are running ahead of Inside Out 2 and Incredibles 2, so the final five-day total may come in much higher than the current projections.
November is going to be a massive month for the box office over the next few weeks with Gladiator II, Wicked, and Moana 2. 2024 has proved to be a rocky road for the box office, but it seems that the year is going to be ending on a pretty strong note. In addition to the fact that Moana 2 was originally going to be a Disney Plus original, the company is sure to be pretty happy with the change in plans to release it theatrically.
Moana 2 will hit theaters on Nov. 27.
