Civil War takes the top spot at the box office

The box office was relatively quiet this weekend, selling less than half the tickets it sold on the same weekend last year.

Civil War took the top spot at the box office this weekend with $25.71M, coming in well over estimates of $20M.

Second place went to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire with $15.45M for a new domestic total of $157.93M. It has taken in a further $278.6M in foreign markets for a global total of $436.53M.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire landed in third place with $5.8M for a new domestic total of $96.96M. It has taken in a further $63M in the overseas markets for a global total of $159.96M.

Fourth place went to Kung Fu Panda 4 with $5.5M for a new domestic total of $173.68M. It has taken in a further $249.96M in the foreign markets for a global total of $423.65M.

Dune: Part Two returned to the top five with a haul of $4.32M for a new domestic total of $173.68M. It has taken in $411.8M in the foreign markets for a global total of $683.9M.

The wide releases this week are Abigail, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Spy x Family Code: White, Villains Inc., Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse, and Sasquatch Sunset.
