Lilo & Stitch surfs to the top of the box office

Disney has once again proven that it can find wild success with its live-action remakes as Lilo & Stitch scores a win.

First place went to Lilo & Stitch with $145.5M for the three-day total. It took in a further $158.7M in the foreign markets for a global total of $304.2M.

Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning opened in second place with $63M domestic and $127M in the foreign markets for a global total of $190M.

Third place went to Final Destination: Bloodlines with $19.65M for a new domestic total of $89.78M. It has taken in a further $92.5M in the foreign markets for a global total of $182.28M.

Thunderbolts landed in fourth place with $9.16M for a new domestic total of $171.37M. It has taken in $181.7M in the foreign markets for a global total of $353.07M.

Fifth place went to Sinners with $8.75M. Its domestic total now sits at $256.55M. It has taken in $80M in the foreign markets for a global total of $336.55M.

The wide releases this week are Bring Her Back and Karate Kid: Legends.
