Warner Bros. Discovery has had a rough year when it comes to sequels that should have been surefire successes.

First place went to Joker: Folie à Deux with $40M at the domestic box office. It took in a further $81.1M in the foreign markets for a global total of $121.1M. For comparison, Joker took in $93.5 million domestically in 2019. Combined with the foreign ticket sales of $140.5 million, the film had an opening weekend globally of $234 million.
The Wild Robot took second place with $18.7M for a new domestic total of $63.98M. It has taken in $36.45M in the foreign markets for a global total of $100.43M.
Third place went to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with $10.32M for a new domestic total of $265.5M. It has taken in a further $137.1M in the foreign markets for a global total of $402.6M.
Transformers: One landed in fourth place with $5.35M for a new domestic total of $47.22M. It has taken in a further $49.8M in the foreign markets for a global total of $97.02M.
Fifth place went to Speak No Evil with $2.8M for a new domestic total of $32.58M. It has taken in a further $34.84M in the foreign markets for a global total of $67.42M.
The wide releases this week are The Apprentice, My Hero Academia the Movie: You’re Next, Nightmare Before Christmas, Piece by Piece, Saturday Night, and Terrifier 3.
