Backrooms Scares Up a Win at the Box Office

Going from a YouTube series to a box office hit is probably making a lot of studio execs take notice.

Backrooms took the top spot at the box office with $81.45M off of a $10M budget. It took in a further $36.54M in the foreign markets for a global opening of $118M.

Second place went to Obsession with $26.4M for a new domestic total of $107.75M. It has taken in $43.24M in the foreign markets for a global total of $148M.

The Mandalorian and Grogu came in third with $25M for a new domestic total of $137.36M. It has taken in a further $109.2M in the foreign markets for a global total of $246.56M.

Fourth place went to Michael with $11.7M for a new domestic total of $339.9M. It has taken in $506.27M in the foreign markets for a new global total of $846.27M.

The Breadwinner rounded out the top five with $7.5M.

The wide releases this week are The Last Whale Singer , Masters of the Universe, Power Ballad, and Scary Movie.
