Deadpool & Wolverine wins the weekend at the box office

It seems that everyone was ready for a bit of comedic superhero antics this weekend.

Deadpool & Wolverine took the top spot with $205M. It’s only the ninth film to open above $200M, and is the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film. It took an additional $233.3M in the foreign markets for a global opening weekend of $438.3M.

Second place went to Twisters with $35.3M for a new domestic total of $154.93M. It has taken in $66.3M in the foreign markets for a global total of $221.23M.

Despicable Me 4 came in third with $14.2M for a new domestic total of $290.97M. It has taken in $386.69M in the foreign markets for a global total of $677.66M.

Fourth place went to Inside Out 2 with $8.3M for a new domestic total of $613.4M. The foreign markets have taken in $892.2M for a global total of $1.505B.

Longlegs landed in fifth place with $6.76M for a new domestic total of $58.61M, and globally it sits at $65.73M.

The wide releases this week are The Firing Squad, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Trap.
