Fox announced on Wednesday that it had renewed The Simpsons for two more seasons. This will mark the 31st and 32nd seasons and bring the episode count total to 713 episodes.

The last big landmark for The Simpsons was when it hit 635 episodes in season 29 and surpassed Gunsmoke.

During the TCA presentation, Fox also announced it picked up two new animated series. Bless the Harts will star Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, both formerly of Saturday Night Live. And Duncanville which comes from Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones who were on Parks and Recs together.

What makes all of this interesting, of course, is the impending acquisition of Fox by Disney. One has to wonder how airing all of these series will work once that sale closes, but it should be interesting to see how it shakes out.
