According to Maya Hawke, filming on Stranger Things 5 will be going on for the remainder of 2024.

Hawke recently appeared on Podcrushed, in support of her role as Anxiety in Inside Out 2. As one would expect, talk eventually turned to the hugely anticipated Stranger Things 5. Hawke tried to explain the scale of the project, saying, ““We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long.”
Hawke went on to explain that series creators and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer work with “an amazing team of writers,” but they themselves are still “very involved” and “take a lot of responsibility” for what is eventually released. “They are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and so it takes a long time to write each season,” added Hawke.
Production on the new episodes began on Jan. 8 of this year following a delay due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of 2023. Production is expected to take close to a year to fully film all eight episodes.
Stranger Things 4 was broken into two parts, and we wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Netflix do the same with Stranger Things 5, if not an even further breaking apart of the episodes due to their lengths.
Stranger Things 5 is rumored to debut some time in 2025.
