The Loyal Subjects have struck a new licensing deal with Hasbro to revive multiple dormant properties from the toy manufacturer.

A new trend in the toy industry is for companies to license out properties they don’t have the time for. Hasbro has been taking this to heart the most, and The Loyal Subjects are the new beneficiaries of this trend.
The Loyal Subjects have announced they have acquired rights to:
- Jem and the Holograms
- M.A.S.K.
- My Buddy
- My Pet Monster
- Popples
- Rom, the Space Knight
A revival of MASK has been a rather glaring omission over the last several years. The name was an acronym for “Mobile Armored Strike Kommand.” The premise saw the task force, led by Matt Trakker, taking on the criminal organization known as V.E.N.O.M. (an acronym for Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem). The toy line had two gimmicks. The first was that every figure had a helmet that gave them some form of ability, and the second was that all the vehicles had a combat mode.
This is an interesting move as Hasbro filed for a new trademark on Jan. 30, 2024. It currently is slated to cover:
Entertainment services, namely, an on-going animated series for children featuring children’s entertainment provided through television, satellites, radio, audio, video, electronic media and computer networks
The original toy line was produced by Kenner, and the rights transitioned to Hasbro when the company purchased all of the former’s assets. Why it has sat idle for so many years as anyone’s guess, but hopefully this is a sign of of a rebirth for the property.
ROM was acquired when Hasbro purchased Parker Brothers and has been an oft-demanded toy line to be revived.
M.A.S.K. and Jem and the Holograms have been pointed out in particular as continuing in their original scales. A picture of Jem from the new line was provided to Toy Book.
The Loyal Subjects has also found success with retro lines of Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake. Hasbro has recently licensed the Power Rangers out to Playmate Toys.
