The first Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer has arrived giving us our first look at the fourth film in the series. The new film will continue the previous series – Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes – and will pick up many years after the last film.
As we saw at the end of War for the Planet of the Apes, humans were beginning to lose their ability to speak and reason, so it will be interesting to say where the world is at this point.
Wes Ball (Maze Runner) will be directing from a script by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. Joe Hartwick Jr., Jason Reed, Jaffa, and Silver will serve as producers, while Pater Chernin and Jenno Topping will serve as executive producers.
Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic, franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
