BritBox September 2025

September 1

  • Second Sight Season 1 | New to BritBox | 4 x 60’ | Released All at Once
Ross Tanner (Clive Owen, Monsieur Spade, A Murder at the End of the World), a maverick, ambitious Detective Chief Inspector who gets results by always going that extra mile, is a man with a terrible secret.

Detective Inspector Catherine Tully (Claire Skinner, Outnumbered, McDonald & Dodds), a competitive graduate officer, is drafted into Tanner’s serious crime unit to help investigate the apparently motiveless, brutal murder of a nineteen-year-old boy. As the investigation develops, Catherine realises the nature of Tanner’s dreadful secret: he is losing his sight.

His private terror fuels his obsession with the case. An uneasy alliance is formed between them. She will be his eyes, on certain conditions – terms which will enhance her career prospects. But Tanner’s relationship to the world is becoming increasingly fragile.

Instinct tells him that if he is to survive, he must reinvent himself and use the alchemy of all his senses. He must relinquish his old reliance on the hi-tech, forensic approach to detective work and seek a more radical, intuitive way of seeing.

  • Second Sight Season 2 | New to BritBox | 6 x 60’ | Released All at Once
Tanner (Clive Owen, Monsieur Spade, A Murder at the End of the World) must gather evidence against his prime suspect in a murder case under difficult circumstances – but as he struggles to conceal his failing eyesight, DI Tully (Claire Skinner, Outnumbered, McDonald & Dodds) oversteps her authority, leaving him professionally exposed.

  • Return to Paradise Season 1 | New to BritBox | 6 x 60’ | Released Weekly
Set in the idyllic, beachside hamlet of Dolphin Cove, Return to Paradise is six gripping, twisting, and fiendishly clever murder mysteries – all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Australian coastal landscape.

Australian ex-pat Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson, Home and Away, Dead Lucky) is the seemingly golden girl of the London Metropolitan police force – with an intuitive approach to detective work, she has built a reputation for being able to crack the most impossible of cases. However, she has found herself being forced to up-sticks and move back to her childhood home of Dolphin Cove, a beautiful, surfers’ paradise and Mackenzie’s worst nightmare.

Having escaped her hometown at the earliest opportunity six years ago, Mackenzie vowed she’d never return, leaving a lot of unfinished business and unanswered questions. On her return, she’s still no fan of the town, and the people of Dolphin Cove are certainly no fans of hers; everyone would prefer her not to be there, including Mackenzie herself.

But when a murder takes place in Dolphin Cove, Mack can’t help but put her inspired detective brilliance to good use and determines, despite her reservations, that she needs to make the best of it, including tying up the loose ends with the ex-fiancé she left behind.
