Masako Nozawa, the voice actor for Son Goku throughout Dragon Ball Z has been honored with the Order of Culture by the Japanese government.

Nozawa, 88, has been recognized for her cultural contributions to the country of Japan for her work as a voice actor. In an announcement shared by Aoni Production, the agency she belongs to, the actor said, “Before I knew it, I had been working in the voice artist industry for a very long time.” She went on to add, “To receive such a wonderful reward for simply continuing to do what I do… I am truly thrilled. My only real asset is my good health, so I will continue to deliver my ‘voice’ with all my strength and hope to give back to our culture in any small way I can.”
She will receive ¥3.5M Japanese Yen (approx. $23,210) a year as a pension for having won the award.
Nozawa last portrayed Goku in the recent Dragon Ball Daima series.
