Roku’s Fall 2025 Software Update Adds AI Voice, Live Sports Scores, and More

Roku is having a big fall. After announcing its 2025 TV lineup and debuting its first-ever smart projector, the platform is now rolling out a major software update that brings smarter voice search, real-time sports features, and better personalization to your streaming experience.

The headline feature this season is the upgrade to Roku Voice, which now uses AI to offer conversational responses directly on your TV screen. Instead of launching apps or repeating command phrases, you can ask questions like “What’s Barbie about?” or “How scary is The Shining?” and get answers immediately. Follow-up questions are also supported, letting users dig deeper without having to reach for a phone or laptop.

Roku is also expanding search and discovery tools across more sections of the interface. A new “Ways to Watch” button on trailers lets you jump straight into content after watching a preview, while enhanced search integration is arriving in the Live TV Zone and, soon, the full channel guide. Titles now display up to two streaming services based on your active subscriptions, making it faster to figure out where to watch without digging through menus.

For sports fans, Roku Sports is getting a real-time boost. Game tiles will now display live scores that update in place, and users can set reminders for upcoming matchups that trigger mobile notifications. If you prefer to avoid spoilers, there’s also a hide-scores option built in.

Roku Fall 2025 Software Update - Bluetooth Headphone Mode - Players

Bluetooth Headphone Mode is now rolling out globally to Roku Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus devices, letting users connect wireless headphones for private listening without needing a mobile workaround. Just pair your earbuds, press play, and stream without disturbing anyone else in the room.

On mobile, the Roku app is gaining quick-access shortcuts to popular features like Closed Captions, Sleep Timer, and Find My Remote. Users can now rate titles with Like, Dislike, or Watched to improve recommendations, and a redesigned “For You” page will organize content into categories for easier browsing.

All features will begin rolling out across Roku devices in the coming weeks, with broader availability expected by the end of the season.
