It’s time to head back into the overworld, as Warner Bros. has announced the Minecraft 2 release date for 2027.

A second Minecraft movie was inevitable. The first film took in $957.76M globally ($423M in the U.S. and $533.81M in the foreign markets), so how fast Warner Bros. could get a sequel out was the only question.
Jared Hess & Chris Galletta have penned the top-secret script. Jared Hess will be returning to direct following the success of the first film.
The biggest surprise is the film has been set for July 23, 2027, the same day that The Simpsons Movie 2 was announced for at the end of last week. It feels as though there is a good chance Homer and his family will end up moving to a different slot to avoid the onslaught of Creepers and Chicken Jockeys.
No word as of yet as to how many original cast members will be returning for the sequel.
